The Frances Young Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery at Skidmore College
Saratoga Springs, NY
A conference in which internationally recognized scholar/teachers, artists, museum directors and curators explored the unique roles that college museums can assume both on their campuses and within the museum world.
Presenters included Fred Wilson, Christopher Steiner, Sharon Macdonald, Janet Marstine, Susan Schwartzenberg, Elaine Heumann Gurian, Janet Cardiff, Lisa Corrin, Adam Weinberg, John Weber, Ivan Karp, and Jock Reynolds.

Visual Understanding in Education
April 25-28, 2004
This workshop, led by leading museum educator Philip Yenawine, focused on using Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS) as the basis for museum and K-12 school partnerships. Participants practiced VTS and learned coaching techniques for working with other teachers who want to use the VTS curriculum. An important part of the workshop was analyzing VTS and its implications for aesthetic growth, language development, and thinking skills.
"An Age of the Museum?"
April 6-7, 2001
Part of the Salmagundi Conference series, An Age of the Museum? explored topics such as how the concept of the museum has changed during the 20th century; how museums reflect, interact with, and sometimes distort the cultural values they express; and how museums help us define terms and ideas like truth, beauty, originality, and authenticity.
